A Personalized Approach

My Philosophy

The admissions process should be one of mutual selection:

  • Students defining what they want
  • Colleges assessing an authentic view of the student via their application

Students need to build their own list of must-haves and desires for their college search, and go from there

  • The key to a lower stress admissions process is a deliberate approach, using all resources available

Choosing and gaining admission to a college is a major component of the transition from childhood into adulthood

  • Therefore, students need to own the college admissions process themselves

What I Have to Offer

 Knowledge of the “customer”

  • i.e., college admissions boards

Understanding of the admissions process itself

  • Ability to talk strategically about the process, but also dig into the tactical elements

A “big picture” perspective how the college selection process fits into the arc of a young adult’s life

  • i.e., what employers are looking for in young college graduates

Experience as a project manager

  • Particularly managing young people undertaking large, high-pressure projects for the first time

How We'll Work Together

Significant 1:1 time with the student

  • Our goal is a student-driven process with ample guidance and advice
  • Parents included in some, but not all, interactions
  • Check-ins and updates to parents as desired
  • Available in-person or via phone/video conference, as location and schedules demand

Meeting schedule customized to your needs

  • Intermittent in-persons/video meetings, supplemented with email and phone communication
  • Less frequent meetings (1-2 per year) during early high school, with increasing frequency in upper grades (determined as needed based on goals and preparation)

Ample upfront planning, but with frequent strategy reviews throughout the process

  • Student should be able to self-guide through a process we roadmap together, but have the ability to adjust the strategy as he/she grows
